Beginners Experience Montessori - June 9th-August 1st and August 18-22 - This summer-long camp is the perfect way to introduce your child to the wonderful world of Montessori. This is combined with the traditional Summer Camp experience of songs, games, art, and, of course, SPLASH DAY!! This is combined with the traditional Summer Camp experience of songs, games, art, and, of course, SPLASH DAY!! June 9-13 Down on the Farm - Come for an exciting week of farm life. Experience the sights, sounds, and smells of life on the farm. We'll make "down-home" recipes, enjoy arts and crafts, and even have some farm animals visit! Painting with the Masters - Learn painting techniques by studying the "Master" artists. We will enjoy daily arts and crafts and end with our own showing of our artist Masterpieces. June 16-20 Cafe Westwood 9-3pm (ages 4 and up) - Mom, no need to pack a lunch this week. We'll be preparing all our meals in the kitchen. Safari Adventures - How many gallons of water can a camel drink at one time? What is the biggest snake in the world? What animal is 20 feet high? If you want to find the answers of these interesting questions, sign up for this fascinating summer camp. Days will include exciting hands-on activities, craft and cooking projects. June 23-27 Spanish Immersion - Immerse yourself in Español-the language, the food, the culture! Do you know what Plantano con queso, dulce de leche, chorizo con pan, and empanadas are? After a week at this camp, your child will! Why not learn to sing in a different language? Experience Argentina, Buenos Aires, and Mexico. Join us in Spanish Immersion this summer! Mad Scientists - Get your goggles ready and roll up your sleeves! Journey through the world of science by doing a different science experiment everyday. July 7-11 Fitness Fun (ages 4 and up) - Being fit is fun! Each day we will make a healthy snack and participate in different activities such as: aerobics, dancing, yoga, gymnastics, golf, and many more. Music, Movement, & Drama - Happy Campers use music, ribbons, puppets, and put on a play. Join us for a week of smiles! Construction Zone - Have fun building and creating, using tools, legos and blocks. We will not take all designs home because part of construction is demolition. Hard hats not required. July 21-25 Dinosaur Dig - Zoom back in time to the land of dinosaurs. Learn which dinosaur was the smallest, largest, and which one had the most horns! Dig for dinosaur bones, and eat dino pudding. Create a fun dinosaur craft! Manners not Mayhem - Dress up and enjoy a week of activities that will enhance your young one's etiquette. July 28-Aug. 1 Storybook Cooks - In this camp we will read a different book each day and participate in cooking, crafts, drama, and many other activities based on the stories we read. At the end of the week each child will bring home a storybook cookbook! Zoobalee Zoo -Take a trip to the zoo without leaving the school! We will learn about zoo animals, what it takes to run and work in a zoo. Come get zoobalee with us! Tutoring Phonics/Handwriting - Polish & enhance phonetics and reading skills through fun games the Montessori way. Learn and practice correct letter formation. Computers - Have fun playing games while learning about computers and how to use the mouse. Math - Keep those math skills polished this summer through the use of games and Montessori Materials. Elementary June 9-13 Cook it up! "Westwood's Culinary Institute" (all ages) - Mom, no need to pack a lunch this week. We'll be preparing all our meals in the kitchen. Step Up! "Westwood's Dance Academy" (4th-Alumni) - Why not spend a week learning new dances with friends and having tons of fun? Show off your new moves for family and friends with an end of camp performance. Open to boys and girls. June 16-20 Theatre Week 1 "Alice in Wonderland" (4th grade and up/alumni welcome; Westwood students only) - Be a star! Have all the fun of a great summer camp while putting on a production. This two-week camp offers acting, set design, and team building with an end-of-camp performance. Knights and Castles (all ages) - Harken back to the days of King Arthur and his knights of the round table. Listen to stories of dragons and knights. Make a 3-D castle and compete with your handmade sword and shield. Eat like a king or queen and practice your chess strategies! June 23-27 Theatre Week 2 (See above) Frontier Kid Nation, includes Friday night til 9pm (all ages) - Ever wonder what it would be like if kids got a chance to run the world? This time it's all up to you! Make your own home, build your own town, make your own laws and run your own business in this week-long frontier camp that ends with a Friday night celebration until 9pm. July 7-11 Super Sleuths (1st-3rd) - Get a clue! Did the butler do it? Campers role play a crime scene investigation and work together to find out if "Mr. Black used the candlestick in the library." Identify the bad guys by learning fingerprinting, code busting, and critical thinking activities to analyze clues! We will make our own special detective hardware! CSI - Forensic Detectives (4th-8th) - Detectives will learn forensic lab science skills to unlock a mysterious crime. Identify evidence, analyze clues and crack the case. Tech Kids - Computers (2nd-6th) - Cyber camps rule! This is the perfect summer camp for kids who love technology. Work with Publisher, Excel, Windows Word, and Power Point, and improve your keyboarding skills. July 14-18 Drama Week 1 (1st-3rd) - Westwood rocks! Have all the fun of a great summer camp while putting on a production. This two-week camp offers acting, set design, and team building with an end-of-camp performance. Project Runway (4th and up) - Everything is Art (1st and up) - Summer is the time for learning all those important things like mixing cement, making invisible ink, crystal gardens, and painting with toothpaste! Join us for an unusually artistic week. July 21-25 Drama Week 2 (See above) Spanish Immersion (4th and up) - Immerse yourself in Español-the language, the food, the culture! Do you know what Plantano con queso, dulce de leche, chorizo con pan, and empanadas are? After a week at this camp, your child will! Why not learn to sing in a different language? Experience Argentina, Buenos Aires, and Mexico. Join us in Spanish Immersion this summer! Just Desserts (1st and up) - Learn how to make all kinds of desserts! These will include candy making, cakes, pies, cookies, and sweet breads. We will participate in making and sampling the goodies. July 28-August 1 Teen Camp (6th grade and up/alumni welcome; Westwood students only) - Calling all teens! This camp is filled with activities. You will be going to Six Flags, having a "Lock-In," doing a community service project, and much more. There are a limited number of spots and they fill up quickly. Tie-Dye Mania (1st and up) - Hang up your standard dress clothes and uniforms and step into some wild colors this summer! Come learn to dye different patterns like circles and swirls, stripes, and shibori. This is the real deal! We use professional long-lasting dye for t-shirts and projects that will last for years. "Jump In" Double Dutch (1st and up) - How about a camp that not only teaches fun jump rope moves to cool music, but also improves your rhythm, coordination, and just makes you feel good about yourself! |
