The Westwood School, a non-profit organization, is guided by a Board of Directors with one goal in mind: to uphold the MISSION and VISION of The Westwood School so that all students, both current and future, can experience The Westwood Way.

Mrs. Heather Lourcey | Head of School | Ex Officio, Non-voting Member

Heather joined Westwood in 1993. She holds a bachelor’s from Texas Wesleyan University and is a certified Montessori Guide. Heather has conducted training workshops for the International Baccalaureate around the country and has been on authorization teams for schools seeking the IB World School authorization. She has participated as a team member for AdvancEd (SACS), assisting local schools seeking to receive initial or renewal accreditation. After serving in almost every position possible at Westwood, Heather was named the Head of School in 2010.

Lesa Adair | President of the Board | Westwood Alumni Parent

Lesa is a partner at Pearson Adair. She has over thirty years of experience in the energy sector holding engineering, operations management, and marketing/risk management positions in the industry. She currently consults on technical and commercial issues for clients with interests in the energy sector. Lesa holds a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Oklahoma State University and an M.B.A. with a concentration in finance from the Cox School at Southern Methodist University. Ms. Adair also serves as a Alternate Director on the board for the Advancial Federal Credit Union which provides financial services to over 85,000 members from branches located in five states and online access worldwide. She is a licensed professional engineer in Texas and Oklahoma, and a certified mediator in Texas.

Amber Bonlie | Westwood Alumni Parent

Amber Bonlie has served on the Westwood School Board since 2023 and currently holds the position of Secretary.  As a former Westwood parent whose daughter attended Toddler through high school graduation, she brings a long-time personal connection and commitment to the school community.  Amber holds a B.A. degree in Human Resources from the University of North Texas.  Professionally she has over 25 years of business experience with a focus on HR and currently serves as a Vice President at a Fortune 100 company where she leads strategic initiatives focused on talent, leadership, development, and organizational effectiveness.

Susan Duesler | Friend of Westwood

Susan Duesler is a local attorney who owns her own law firm, focusing on family law for the past several decades. She attended private schools during her elementary through high school years in Beaumont, Texas. Susan graduated from Rhodes College for her undergraduate studies and earned her law degree from Baylor University School of Law, where she now serves as adjunct faculty to lead the family law boot camp course. She currently is a member of the Texas Commission for Lawyer Discipline, the Rhodes College Alumni Association Executive Board, and the governing Council of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.

Sami

Sami Smith| Westwood Alumna and Parent

Sami Smith is a CustomerSuccess Engineer at UpMetrics.  With nearly 15 years of experience, she has shaped data-driven strategies in various roles across the philanthropic sector.  Sami holds a B.A. from New York University and an MBAfrom the Cox School of Business the Southern Methodist University.
Sami attended The Westwood School from kindergarten through 8th grade.  Passionate about the Montessori Method, she credits her formative years at Westwood with instilling the critical thinking, independence, and community values that underpin her personal and professional successes.
Westwood is a fabulous environment for children and families. The school offers singularly unique curriculum that blends Montessori in the lower school with the acclaimed International Baccalaureate program to insure that Westwood graduates meet or exceed academic standards for students in the program worldwide.
