Athletics

Westwood athletics exist to provide opportunities for our students to participate in activities under safe, enjoyable and challenging conditions. Our athletics is designed to affirm and promote Westwood values. We strive to engage student athletes fully—in mind, body and spirit. Student-athletes, coaches and parents are called upon to work together in a true spirit of sportsmanship and to assist in creating an environment in which those values can be revealed, tested and proven.

The Westwood School promotes athleticism among all students. Any student wishing to participate on a team is welcome to do so. Tryouts are held only for varsity teams.

Sports Offered by Level
Beginning in Preschool through Upper Elementary, the Westwood Community Association (WCA) works to offer sports, including basketball, soccer, and volleyball. Athletics for Grade 6 through Middle School are coordinated through the Athletic Director and include volleyball, cross country, track & field, basketball and cheer.

For High School Students
Westwood belongs to the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) athletic program. We value these co-curricular activities as an integral part of the total education and growth experience.

“School administration has gone all out over the years to provide a great athletic program for its students. The school emphasizes lifetime fitness. By Middle School and High School students can participate in volleyball, basketball, soccer, swim and track and field. But again, most importantly, students participate in ALPs – Adventure Leadership Programs for students the attend overnight trips that include scuba diving, mountain biking, surfing, canoeing and rock climbing. These are the types of activities that build student confidence, respect for the outdoor environment and encourage lifelong fitness. My children have only had wonderful athletic experiences at Westwood!”
