Westwood Wins Quiz Bowl National Elementary Division

After only a semester of preparation, three Westwood students representing Westwood’s Elementary Quiz Bowl Team, attended the National Competition in Orlando, Florida earlier this summer. Quiz Bowl is a game in which two teams, each team representing different schools, compete head-to-head to answer questions from all areas of knowledge, including history, literature, science, fine arts, current events, popular culture, sports, and more. Earlier this Spring, Westwood’s Elementary team placed first in the local competition.

During the National Competition, The Westwood School from Dallas, Texas defeated St. Peter Catholic School from Covington, Louisiana to win the Elementary division, finishing with a 7-0 record. Our team was the first three-person team in the thirty-six year history of the National Academic Championship to win a national title.

Along with winning the National Competition,  Westwood’s Niyathi Y. was named Orlando Most Valuable Player.

Join us in congratulating the effort of these students! Way to go Westwood Wildcats!
